Is this your

first massage?

This may be your first time getting a massage, or perhaps your first time coming to The Massage Store.  Either way, we want to welcome you and make you feel as comfortable as possible.

When you first arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted by your therapist and asked to fill out an intake form.  Your therapist needs to have some general information about your medical history to make sure it  won't interfere with your massage, or to address any issues during your massage.

Your therapist will take you to a private massage room.  The therapist will take a few minutes to ask about your medical history and intake form, ask what your goals are for your massage session, areas you would like extra focus on, etc.  Once that is finished, you will be asked to undress to your comfort level and lay on the massage table under the provided sheet.  The therapist will leave the room while you undress, and you will remain covered during the entire massage, except for the specific part of the body your therapist is currently working on.

Remember, the massage is all about you.  Please communicate with your therapist about specific areas needing attention, whether the pressure is too hard or too soft, etc.  Most importantly, take the time during your massage to relax.

Your therapist will use either massage lotion or oil.  If you have any allergies, please let your therapist know.

Once your massage is finished, your therapist will let you know and leave the room.  Take a minute to re-orient yourself and to get dressed.  Your therapist will meet you in the front reception room.

After your massage, it is essential to drink lots water.  Your therapist will provide you with a complimentary bottle before you leave.  Make sure to drink more throughout the rest of the day.

Later that day, and for a few days later, you may experience some soreness and tenderness.  This is not unusual and is normally an indicator of how tight your muscles were prior to your massage.   Regular massages will typically reduce any discomfort you feel after each session.

Keep in mind, if you are receiving a massage to relieve a certain condition or pain, one massage may not fully relieve it.  It will start the process of healing it, but additional massages may be necessary.
